Pastor's Corner

Do you have Jesus in You?

Man is a religious being.. Even the atheist is religious and atheism is his religion. The religion a man professes has immense influence on him. Now let us take the oft-quoted statement of Sri Narayana Guru which means as follows; 'Religion does not matter, but man should improve'. Can man improve under a religion that exhorts its followers to kill the unbelievers? Man cannot improve under a religion that teaches hatred. Can anyone make good fish curry with bad masala? Obviously Not! Neither can we make better people under bad religion.

Mahatma Gandhi said that he counted Jesus Christ as one of the greatest Gurus of all times. Gandhi did not call himself a Christian as far as his religion goes but he admitted that the principle of non-violence (ahimsa) that guided all his worldly and physical interactions, was developed from the model given by the crucified Christ. Page 5 & 12 of “What Jesus means to me”.

The word Hindu means ‘one who believes in ’ahimsa’. The Sanskrit word, ‘ahimsa’ means, ’giving no pain by thought, word or action’. If that is true how many of the nine incarnations were Hindus? How about Krishna who encouraged Arjuna to kill his relatives, using the following statement, 'Nayom hanti nahaytheh' (You are killing only their flesh, not their souls)? Don’t you think Jesus Christ who asked Peter, His disciple, to put away his sword at the face of an army that came to capture Him, can help you become a Hindu better than Krishna can? Yes!

Swami Vivekananda would attest me for this truth. He wrote, Do not limit God to anything. Whatever adoration you want to give God, give it to Christ. That is all the worship that you can do . . . . . .Human spirits change when Christ touches them; every man touched by Him will be transformed just like Him and His life be made spiritual; from every pore of the body of such a man will pour out spiritual power . . . . . . I am an Easterner but if I respect Christ I will respect Him as God; nothing less than that. Forbid us pretend to respect Him by bringing Him down to the level of a great man! (Vivkananda Sahitya Somgrahom P.411)

Let us listen to Rajaram Mohanroy who was the founder of Brahma Samaj. He said that his research of religions brought him to this conclusion; the teachings of Jesus Christ have been more beneficial to mankind for their improvement than those of any other single teacher of the world.

This is because Jesus was the embodiment of love. He was God incarnate. Those who have not understood Christ, have not understood the love of God. Bible calls God’s love “agape” which means “love that loves enemies also”. Bible says that Jesus Christ came not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many. Mk. 10:45. His love was not erotic love. Jesus loved everyone equally. He loved John the apostle, He loved the young rich lawyer, He loved Simon the leper and the woman caught in the act of adultery.

Dear friend, God loves you and He has finished doing everything that is needed to give you and me eternal life (life of God) in Jesus Christ. “God so loved the people that He gave His only begotten Christ, that whosoever believes in Christ shall not perish but have eternal life”. Jn.3:16.

Jesus became a sinless sacrifice in eternal Spirit to pay for the sins of all mankind. Heb.9:14. He bore 39 stripes on His back to remove all your sickness. 1 Pet.2:24. He hung on a tree to become a curse so that our curses are cancelled out”. Gal.3:13.

Why are you deliberating any longer? Receive Jesus Christ into your heart today as Savior and Lord and receive God’s life and His peace into your life!
